- What is program registration?
-
Previously users were expected to purchase a
license to use the program. When you purchased
that license you were given a registration number to enter into the
program. This number showed the program was properly registered and
paid for. Each time an unregistered program starts up, a window opens
to remind the operator it is an unregistered demo version. Presence of
the registration number simply bypasses the display of the reminder
window. The program is now being provided free of charge and you can
now use a universal registration number R02-2000-558U, to get rid of
the reminder window.
- Do I need to register the program to get it unlocked and ready
for use?
-
No! the program that is downloaded, once installed, is a
fully functional program. You can try it and, in fact, create your whole membership list before you decide if it will suit your needs.
A universal registration number R02-2000-558U can now be used to
remove the reminder
that it is a demo version.
- I have installed the program, but all I get is a blank screen when I try
to run it. What do I do next?
-
When you start the program, the first thing you must do is
to create your membership file. To do this, pick the menu items File /
New. You will then need to type in a name for your file. The file name
will typically be an abbreviated name of your club. It must start with a
letter and may contain only letters or digits. We do not recommend
using spaces in your file name. Once the file has been created, it will be
re-opened each time you start the roster program.
- Where will my roster file be located.
-
If you accepted all the defaults when you installed the
program and created your first roster file, the files will be located with
the roster program in the folder C:\Program Files\AppComTech\Roster.
If you are more familiar with windows, you can create the files any where,
and you can create additional roster files as desired.
- Can I easily share my membership roster with other officers of the club?
-
If you wish to share your roster data with others, it is
most easily done by emailing the files clubroster.CDX, clubroster.DBF, and
clubroster.FPT. (Replace "clubroster" with whatever name you gave
to your membership file when you created it.) Be careful to send all three
files of the set when you do this. If the three files do not correspond, the
roster program may not work. Also make sure that only one person keeps the
master file. If different changes are applied to more than one copy of
your roster, there is no way to get the files together except by tedious
manual compare and correct operations
